I developed net-new training materials, including a 250-page training manual, a job aid and video demos to document the Microsoft-developed CRM software that manages the federal WIC Program in Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico.
I developed, revised and formatted a 30-page employee handbook based on existing and net-new content to provide a comprehensive guide for employee procedures. Sample available on request.
I designed promotional materials, including a fact sheet and case studies, to be shared with customers, investors and Texas legislators to promote CTRA’s programs.
While managing the Microsoft brand in Dell marketing vehicles for SMB and Enterprise, I created strategic messaging and provided compliance oversight for partner-funded demand generation programs in NA. As the program manager, I developed quarterly marketing plans that aligned with Dell’s roadmap and provided creative input on multiple marketing vehicles, including catalog, email, digital and direct mail campaigns, webcasts, microsites and lead generation.
I oversaw marketing strategy and technical content development, including print advertising, case studies, fact sheets, data sheets, value propositions and product comparisons. I wrote content and worked with graphic designers to format in Buffalo templates. I vetted and managed the relationship with the advertising agency of record.
I developed global communications and training for new project management processes to be used throughout AMD’s IT organization. Material deliverables included a getting started guide, training curriculum, training guide and a template for RFPs.
I worked on special projects for the CEO that delivered insights on competitor research, emerging technologies and business models. I was a ghostwriter for several trade publication articles. Other material deliverables included press releases, web copy and customer welcome guides.
As the strategic owner of technical marketing efforts, I oversaw the life cycle and creation of 150+ technical marketing documents for HVAC products, including catalogs, specification sheets, engineering manuals and web site content for each product line. I accepted an assignment at Hernandez Engineering to document a 900-page web-based training module during the development of seven Payload Operations Support Team applications that involved learning space shuttle flight software and preparing documentation for astronaut training, Mission Control and mission instructions. In the late 90s, I collaborated on various aspects of the SDLC for Citigroup’s proprietary software. Working directly with the development team, I created user documentation, online help manuals, context-sensitive help, training documents and release notes, as well as performed beta testing.
I had the opportunity to teach an upper-level English class: Technical Writing and Document Design. My pedagogy incorporated textbook and supplemental reading, lecturing, in-class activities, online collaboration using Blackboard and six major projects, including presentations. Since 2006, I’ve had a side hustle as a freelance writer. In 2017, I incorporated my business as a Texas LLC, but the legacy had already begun with previous projects, including weekly press checks for Village Voice media, freelance ad agency work and other custom content.
